Book Review - The One Minute Entrepreneur

I have been reading alot over the last few months on self-improvement books in the area of Pschology, Motiation, Guerilla Marketing, Business (especially books on Entrepreneurship).

Today i am going to share with you a must-read book for all entrepreneurs, that i have borrowed from the local National Library:

The One Minute Entrepreneur

by Ken Blanchard, Don Hutson and Ethan Willis

The book emphasizes on the the Secrets to Creating and Sustaining A Successful Business.

I will just share with you a few of the book’s “One Minute Insights” that i deemed as necessary for successful entrepreneurs.

BUILDING A STRONG FOUNDATION

  • Associate with people you admire and can learn from
  • Keep a notebook of the wisdom you read, hear, and learn, and distill them into notes
  • Good life is built on strong, solid values such as integrity, love, honesty, and purposeful work.
  • You never need to cheat to win
  • What is right is more important than who is right

GROWING IN KNOWLEDGE

  • You will be the same, year after year, except for the people you meet and the books you read
  • You can get what you want in life if you help other people get what they want
  • Lead with your ears
  • Success occurs when opportunity and preparation meet
  • It is not who you know that counts, it is who knows you and what they think of you
  • When you feel moments impacting your destiny, seize the opportunity

WHEN OPPORTUNITY ARRIVES

  • Too many people dream too small. Remember, you will never achieve more than you think you can. So create a big dream.
  • When opportunity knocks, seize it
  • Never let your expenses outstrip your revenue
  • Don’t be a banker for your customers. Timely collection of invoices is crucial
  • Your customers are your company lifeblood- treat them well
  • Nurture your people. They make it all happen. Without them, you have no company

LAUNCHING THE COMPANY

  • Unless you want to do all the work, you have to think of ways to come up with new sources of revenue
  • If you focus only on managing costs, your business will never grow
  • Don’t be afraid to seek advice when your business goes to a new level
  • Making a profit is always a necessity if you want to stay in business

FINANCIAL GROWING PAINS

  • As an entrepreneur, the secret to success is generating CASH, CASH, CASH
  • Without good cash management, you will never make it
  • Profit is the applause you get for taking care of your customers and creating a motivating environment for your people

and many many more….but i just need to end with the following summary:

LAST WORDS

  • Sales have to exceed expenses
  • Collect your bills
  • Take care of your customers
  • Take care of your people

A Great Book with Great Tips to Live Your Life!

Over the last week or so, i was reading a No.1 New York Best-Seller on Self-Improvement known as “The 4-Hour Work Week” by Timothy Ferriss.

Really an awesome book. It empowers us on escaping the 9-5, Live Anywhere and Join the New Rich, where we live everyday to the fullest. We do not believe in Retirements when we are so rich at 5o years old. Instead, we believe in having many many mini-retirements throughout our life.

Who wants that? Highly recommended book for those that want more life than the 9-5 work week, especially for those that aspire to become an entrepreneur.

I seldom recommend books to others, but this one is really special!

Go Get The Book Now! You will be as happy as me. =)
