We have covered earlier on The Importance of Interviews & The Things to Take Note in Interviews

The longest part of any job interview tends to be the questions asked of the candidate. It is also the cause of most stress. We worry whether we will be able to answer the questions convincingly, whether anything will come up to catch us out and if our answers are as impressive as those of  the other candidates. It is the case that the more we know in advance about the questions to be asked, the more comprehensive our preparation and the more confident our delivery on the day. Whilst it is impossible to accurately predict every single question that will be asked in an interview, we can guess and estimate most of the likely areas to be covered.

Following are the Top 20 Most Common Job Interview Questions:

  1. Tell me more about yourself?
  2. Can you tell me about your last job? Read more

What Leads to Success in Interviews?

In my previous post, i have covered on the importance of interviews, and how we should approach it.

In the same way as thorough preparation leads to success in examinations, so a system for approaching interviews can have the same outcome. Most of the talking done in the interview will be by you, at least 80% of the time. This means that you can have a fair measure of control in deciding where the interview is going. Of course, you cannot set all the questions yourself, but you can calculate fairly and quite accurately what subject areas will be covered and you can plan your answers accordingly.

We need to note that even the best corporate executives will fail many interviews, in his or her quest to end up in a rewarding and challenging work. The best approach is to try to present yourself in the best way and treat each new interview as a learning experience.

Here are 4 points to remember:

    1) Keep an open mind about what you may find in the interview. More varied methods of selection are now introduced. For me, i like to give application / scenario type questions that test interviewee reflex and logical thinking. Read more

I was asked by a few subscriber to this blogsite about Success on how to write effective original articles. They must have seen the Article Box on the Right Hand Side of this webpage, which shows the articles that i have recently submitted to EzineArticles. Do check out the articles that i have submitted lately by clicking on the topics inside the box.

But for now, i will just want to share with you some tips by Ezine Articles on creating quality and original articles:

Each article you submit contains different components and sections. While some sections carry more weight than others; each section must be crafted with care and foresight.

Below are several general ideas for you to create that quality article:

    1. Proof your Work:
Credibility and expertise in your article subject matter can be diminished by typos or grammatical errors in any part of your article. Here’s a proof-reading tip: Read your work out loud. Often times this will help you catch mistakes you missed while reading the article to yourself silently.

I was invited to join as a panel of 3 interviewers for the interview for a Sales Specialist in our corporation. As i was going through the interview and participated in questioning the interviewee, a thought came to me on the importance of interviews.

In one’s pursuit of success in life, there are many paths to attain it. To me personally, success is being able to be true to yourself. It really doesn’t matter what others say, be they your friends or business associates. At the end of the day, you ought to live your life the way you want to.

Inspiring Movies - L Change The World (2008)

I just came back from the movie theatre in Vivocity, Singapore after watching the movie “L Change The World”. L Change The World is a spin-off movie from the “Death Note” sequels which is about the last 23 days of L, the hero.

After solving the Kira case (in Death Note 1 and 2), another serious one finds L and he has only 23 days left to solve it. A boy and a girl hold the key to solving the case and L faces a crisis of global magnitude to protect the kids. He is without his most trusted partner, Watari, and cannot rely on his superb intellect alone to solve the case. What will happen to L? What will change? The 23 days are packed with turns of events even L himself cannot predict. This movie spin-off do not have the “Death God” that always eat apples.

The show instead touches alot on Human Mankind and it’s kindness, forgiveness and passion. The young 13-years old girl and the small boy have also acted briliantly in the show, supporting L, the lead actor to portray the soft part of him. I was inspired when he brought the young boy to a orphanage and mentioned the following statement (below), before he left to die on his own (due to a curse that he had on himself to save the world):

“No Matter How Gifted You Are, You Alone Cannot Change The World”

Below is a short trailer that i would like to share with you.

For those from US and Europe, i hope you have a chance to watch this movie.

    Inspiring Movies - Gridiron Gang

This is a gritty and inspirational movie based on a true story of a group of teenage delinquents given a second chance to redeem themselves by playing football. Sean Porter (Johnson) is a frustrated juvenile probation officer. Most of the kids in his detention camp are either sent back to prison once they leave or meet a violent end when they return to the streets. Desperately looking for a way to make a difference, he and his co-worker Malcolm Moore devise a plan to teach discipline and responsibility through the game of football. But with only four weeks before the start of the season, Porter must overcome insurmountable odds to put together a competitive team. It’s a season that will test their minds, spirit, and bodies as Porter teaches his players the principles of good character, strength through resiliency, and genuine respect for one another.

Certainly a good movie for the many juvenilles these days that wonder around the streets and hope to inspire them to pursue something in their life with a Greater Purpose.

Arrogant, talented Dan Millman seems to have the perfect college life: a stunning gymnast’s body of incredible strength, handsome looks, good grades, plenty of money and a shot at the Olympic qualifiers in men’s gymnastics. Still, Dan wakes up almost nightly from terrifying nightmares and odd visions he can’t explain or dismiss.

One night, awakened by yet another nightmare, Dan goes for a run through his foggy neighborhood and comes upon a well-lit service station. Behind the counter, an old man seemingly moves without regard for space or time. One moment, Dan is paying for his snacks, the next the old man is on the roof of the station. Stunned by the impossibility, Dan begs the old man, whom he instinctually names Socrates, to share the secret of his abilities in order to achieve his goal of Olympic Gold. The old man puts him through a regimen that changes his diet, training, and lifestyle. Before long, his life is ruined, and he loses his friends, his girls, and is almost thrown off his Gymnastics squad. Thus begins Read more

Inspiring Movies - Remember The Titans

    in Inspiring Movies

Set in Alexandria, Virginia, in 1971, the fact-based story begins with the integration of black and white students at T. C. Williams High School. This effort to improve race relations is most keenly felt on the school’s football team, the Titans, and bigoted tempers flare when a black head coach (Washington) is appointed and his victorious predecessor (Will Patton) reluctantly stays on as his assistant. It’s affirmative action at its most potentially volatile, complicated by the mandate that the coach will be fired if he loses a single game in the Titans’ 13-game season. The players represent a hotbed of racial tension, but as the team struggles toward unity and gridiron glory, Remember the Titans builds on several subplots and character dynamics to become an inspirational drama of Rocky-like proportions. This is a football movie that make sure that those that have watched it remembers it for long!

Experience a celebration of how a town torn apart by resentment, friction, and mistrust comes together in triumphant harmony. The year is 1971. After leading his Read more

Inspiring Movies - Band of Brothers

    Halo friends,

Over the Chinese New Year period (7th and 8th Feb 2007), i was somehow stuck to the tv screen watching a well known series directed by Steven Speilsberg and Tom Hanks, known as BAND OF BROTHERS. This war show that revolves around the World War II, was so nice that i completed the series in a marathon fashion.

This show is not just based on Man’s Stuff - all the gore and action packs, but i felt it is more into the acting of the casts inside - where they portrayed these men that fought a war, their camaradie, their desire for the future of American as well as the whole world from Hitler (and Japan in WWII). It depicted clearly the effect of war on the lives of soldiers and commoners, and the scar that it deeply imbedded into their mind their heart.

I can certainly feel it. Shown below is a short clip on one part of the show. Enjoy:
